His Mission
I have always believed that the mission and vision of an organization define its heart and soul and direct its work. The same is true for me as an individual, as a teacher and as an elected leader in our organization. Too often mission statements are seen as nothing more than words on a piece of paper and they never really guide the work they set out to define. In order to be believable, a mission has to have life and breath. A person or organization has to live up to the words of the mission statement in their daily life, work and decision making.
Here is my promise to you: You can hold me to this mission. You can challenge me and invite dialogue and conversation about what I believe and why I believe it. You can expect me to act in ways that are in concert with what I say I believe. I look forward to those opportunities.
Sincerely,
Dennis
Mission: My mission is to make listening, risk-taking and honesty the norm for relationships with others, to engage and tap the skills of others to transform NEA into a stronger and more effective organization, and to build communities of support and advocacy for public education to promote and preserve the opportunity for all students to succeed and become contributing members of a democratic society.
